UPDATED: GT5 Prologue - Not Hitting PSN Until Saturday?

Sony quiet on delay

28 Mar 2008

UPDATE: Sony has issued the following statement with regards to the delay of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PSN:

"Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday. We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted."

Speaking to SPOnG, a Sony rep further confirmed, "The statement refers to the entire Store update."

Sony has attracted the ire of PlayStation Network users by failing to deliver Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in a timely fashion. It now looks like the game might not be available to download until Saturday, two days after it was meant to hit the network.

Sony has yet to provide official comment on the subject, but one gamer who called Sony (presumably its customer services department) tells us, "Not good, the women wasn't particularly helping in terms of why the game was delayed on PSN however she did speak to her manager who said that there should be an OFFICIAL announcement on the forums/SCEE website today. However she said that it will likely appear on the store as a seperate update tomorrow (Saturday 29th) at the earliest."

Sony's website still bares no acknowledgment of the delay, let alone an explanation.

Fortunately, if you can be bother to leave your sofa you can get the game on Blu-ray disc today. If you're of the not-leaving-the-house persuasion, you can tide yourself over by reading SPOnG's GT5 Prologue review here.
