Xbox 360 Wiimote Rumoured
Or is that SixAxis?

The MTV sourced Xbox 360-mote.
Come on, you've always wanted to be able to bounce Master Chief around the place in the same way as you do with Samus Aran or Link. Haven't you? Well, according to a report from MTV, this dream might not be unattainable. Microsoft, it appears, is preparing a motion-sensing Xbox 360 controller to be ready before Christmas.
According to the report, "Rare, the Microsoft-owned studio behind Xbox 360's launch first-person shooter "Perfect Dark Zero" and the upcoming instalment of the "Banjo-Kazooie" franchise, has been tasked with creating a unified interface and look for the controller. Rare has had trouble hitting its deadlines, according to the source."
Microsoft is, of course, not commenting on rumour or speculation. For its part, Rare is equally tight-lipped.
However, MTV's "development source sketched out a reproduction of the last prototype he'd seen, although the final product — if it is indeed released — may vary from this design. A key difference between the Wii remote and the prototype is the lack of a companion controller to be placed in the other hand, like Wii's Nunchuck."
The controller has not been instigated by deeply thought out design innovation, however, with MTV reporting a candid response from its source, "The whole thing is a colossal clusterf---. [Microsoft] marketing just want it so they can match the Wii point for point. The biggest parts of their marketing materials outline how easy it would be for third parties to port their Wii games to the 360."
Frankly, the image is just too close to the existing Wii Remote for Nintendo not to take some kind of action in terms of protecting patents. While the MTV report is packed with anonymous sources and appears to stack up, it would surely be simpler for Microsoft simply to adapt its existing controller design to cope with motion sensing.

I disagree.
Innovation be damned, I say...EXCELLENCE IN EXECUTION is whats missing...which is hurting 360 more, RRoD or lack of some bloody gadget? I'll take quieter fans, better heat sinks, and a better optical drive over a pig in a poke thanks.
I also don't really think it will matter how much this thing looks like a copy of a WiiMote...if MS can get away with it legally, it'll fly. Best if its a total copy and acts as a motion sensing module with external shells and the like, like the WiiMote.
According to the article there is no nunchuk...but the presence, on the underside, of a trigger, suggests to me that these might be used in pairs.

EXCELLENCE IN EXECUTION - good point; that's what's missing from everything, though, at the moment, i.e. there's always a catch behind anything that sounds good.
But, the thing that is genuinely missing: LACK OF SUPPORTED SOFTWARE

I could have designed this in MS Paint!
Anyway, I don't think motion sensing is in itself what is needed - they key concept they're looking for (but don't know it) is innovation. Otherwise, it will be far too obvious that this is just a copy.
