Microsoft: HD-DVD Drive is a USB Extender
If you spend hours on end sat in the corner of your living room, rocking backwards and forwards and sobbing as you look at your defunct HD-DVD peripheral for the Xbox 360, despair not. Microsoft has some great advice on how you can still make use of the console add-on.

Asked by a disgruntled gamer what they should do with their peripheral now the HD-DVD format is dead, Shane Kim, Corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios, pointed out, “It also is a terrific DVD player and it allows you to have game discs and movie discs, whether HD DVD or DVD, within the console at one time. The HD DVD player also adds two additional USB ports to your console.”

Shane also points out that, "There are around 500 HD DVD movies to choose from and many at great deals, so there is a fair amount of content for HD DVD on the market."

Kim fails to remember, however, that the likes of Wal-Mart will no longer sell HD-DVD products come shortly and that by the end of the year coming across HD-DVD movies is likely to be very hard work.

But hey, at least you've got a £130 USB extender and DVD player!

Joy so now i have an extra USB port which is unused......

I like the fact that there are plenty of bargain HD DVD's around, ebay is packed with them.

The Drive really does need some future past this point, HD's wont be coming out and the back cataloguw will dry up.
