UK Charts: Mario Kart Wii Holds Lead
Japanese publishers dominate the top

22 Apr 2008
It's the second week on sale for Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii and the game has successfully dodged any nasty banana skins. The cheeky racer is still sat at Number 1.
The Top 5 is made up entirely of titles from Japanese publishers – Nintendo, SEGA, Konami and Sony – and, obviously excepting the PS3-exclusive GT5 Prologue, each one is seeing its best sales on Nintendo platforms.
SEGA's Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has managed to swap places with Sony's GT5 Prologue, up one place to Number 2. Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 holds on to Number 4 for a fourth week, holding off SEGA Superstars Tennis, which has climbed six places to Number 5.
Electronic Arts grabs the highest new entries, with UEFA Euro 2008 entering the Charts at Number 8 and The Sims 2: Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff wading in at Number 20. The only other new entry is Sony/Namco's Time Crisis 4 for the PS3, which stumbles in at Number 24.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft's Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 jumps back up the Charts from Number 32 to Number 22 thanks to retailer hardware bundles.
Next week there's one biggie to keep an eye out for - Wii Fit.
You can see the Top 10 in full below (last week's position is bracketed). For the Charts in full, head this way.
(1) 1 Mario Kart Wii - Nintendo

Not at all surprised. I played a dose of 4 player Mario Kart Wii with some friends over the weekend, before the big Calzaghe fight. It was a riot of fun, and reminds me just how much fun, 4 player games with friends present, can be.
In fact, Mario Kart Wii is reason enough to own a Wii. A simple yet brilliant fun game.
Perhaps certain Epic employees should have a go too. Oh wait! I forgot, there's not enough guns in it.
