Infogrames Entertainment S.A. has bitten the bullet and forked out $11 million (£5.5m) to buy the remaining available stock in Atari.

According to Hemscott, "Under the terms of the agreement, Infogrames will acquire the remaining outstanding equity interests of Atari for $1.68 (84p) a share, equivalent to a cash payment of $11 million.

"Following the merger, Atari will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Infogrames.

"In connection with the transaction, Infogrames has committed to lend Atari $20 million, which will be used to fund Atari's operational cash requirements during the period between the date of the merger agreement and its closing."

Am hard pressed by which company churns out crap games Atari or EA...Emm well EA tend to be great when it comes to visuals and Atari tend to suck all over usually...Emmm very touch situation, perhaps EA was better off buying a company that sucks so they are one with the family oh well.

Test Drive, Enternal Sonata and Alone in the Dark are all on Atari`s portfoilio of publishing so its not all crap SS4.

and lets not forget FAHRENHEIT if any game was worthy of a Next/New Gen sequel.

Heavy Rain, or whatever it'll eventually be called is from the same guys who did Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy. Dunno if it's a strict sequel, but it's gotta have some of the same thoughts behind it.
