Sony Gaming Division Loses More Money
But that's not all bad news.

According to Reuters' report, "Sony's videogame division saw its operating loss shrink by about 100 billion yen (£4.8m) in the year ended March 2008, helping boost overall profitability."
The loss was based on PS3 development and launch costs - and yes, you can lose £4.8 million and turn that into a positive statement. Why? Because you do indeed have to speculate to accumulate.

Thats not bad actually, considering Microsoft's losses with the Xbox and Xbox 360 have been significantly higher for Sony I think thats a small loss.

£4.8 million is nothing, Microsoft are having put aside $1.15 bn (£500+ million) due to the high failure rates.

I think I need a translator. How can you make "loss shrink by 100bn" into "loses more money" ?

I wonder when the last time was you used a currency coverter or did basic math.

1.00 USD = 105.370 JPY
From XE.
Looks like 100ish yen in $1. So divide the 100 billion by 100 and you get... surprise, $1 billion, NOT a paltry few million.
Guess what though, to a company like Microstuff, that kinda amount is pocket change. They earn more pure cash profit than that in a quarter or 2.
And if you bothered to look at numbers, MS lost more than $4 billion during the lifetime of the xbox 1, and that INCLUDES all game sales and halo 1 and 2 sales (halo 2 sales were the very first quarter thier console division even showed a profit). So a $1 billion loss isn't much compared to another big player like MS.

Loaded headline. Should read "Sony Gaming Division Loses Less Money" to be a fair representation of the article.
