Back on May 15th 2007, 1,440 PS3s were - as they used to say in the 1970s - 'bleeding well lifted'. They were, in fact, driven out of NYK Logistics in Grange Park, Northampton... in a lorry.

Blimey cripes! That's even before the release of GTA IV, so there's no way it can get the blame for the £700,000 'crime of the day'. Two 'geezers': Partizan Zekaj (28) and Nard Paloka (29) went on trial for the Great Console Robbery at Northampton Crown Court. The jury is due to return with its verdict today.

The details of the heist - in which nobody was injured - grew more hilarious as the case went on. Speaking on behalf of his client (Paloka), Brendan Halligan commented, "...it's clear other people had the opportunity to have taken these PlayStations and that must be a matter of relevance. It appears this theft was not noticed from 6am until 5pm."

Not spotted? Brilliant... erm, awful. Just awful.

According to the local newspaper,a 38-tonne articulated lorry, "with two men in the cab", pulled up to the entrance gate "at about 6am.

"The occupants told the security officer they were from a firm called Trilogy and were collecting the PlayStation 3 consoles to deliver them to Scunthorpe.

The footage went on to show a man loading 25 pallets into the trailer of an articulated lorry with a forklift truck. The lorry was then driven off the site."

The real world is sometimes so much better than video games...

We will report back on the jury's decision as soon as we get it.

Wow. Whoever wrote this is definitely new to news reporting.

For the love of God, get an editor. Your style is horrible and disjointed.

I really, really hope you're not referring to the SPOnG story or it's outside in the carpark, coats off and half-bricks, now!

All the best
