Gyllenhaal will play Dastan in his quest to stop a villainous nobleman from grabbing the Sands of Time, which enable their possessor to turn back the clock and, you know, rule the world... and that.
Starring opposite him will be Gemma Arterton, a Bond girl in the ridiculously named Quantum of Solace and former St. Trinians's student. She will play Tamina, a princess who is both feisty and exotic.
Mike Newell, the director behind Four Weddings and a Funeral and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is set to sit in the big chair of the Disney/Bruckheimer film. If it performs well at the box office, it's apparently hoped that the property will become a Hollywood franchise along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean.
Ubisoft recently confirmed a new game in the Prince of Persia series.

Aint being funny but how do you get white folk to play Persians exactly? I sense a flop! At least get Asians to play the role ffs!
Well, get a Persian to play a Persian. How about Mohammad Reza Golzar?

Why do white people have to play every damn role in all movies? Take street fighter for example wtf? Put the Japanese and Chinese in there!!
Well, in the Japanese and Chinese film industries, the white people don't play all the parts. Nor in the Indian, Iranian, Kenyan industries...

Why not David K. Zandi who is an actual Persian Prince as well as an actor? OK, so he's mostly appeared uncredited or as himself, but the thought's there!

Gyllenhaal is a good actor, and while he's not asian it may still be a cool film.
I'm still in the mind that game based films should be in CG or anime, to sell to their core audience and maintain that credibility and quality. Saying that, they be straight to dvd if that happened.

Makes too much sense for Hollywood. They like to trow money out of the window you know...helps plumbing the dollar and so resets their economy after a horrible crash.
Wait...Hollywood looking at the big picture? Now i didn't make sense...

David Zandi the real Prince of Persia should've been hired. Disney and Jerry really screwed up this great franchise.
