Well, it's confirmed - despite howls of derision from fanboys of another caste - PlayStation 3 owners will indeed be getting their hands on the critically acclaimed sub-aqua, scary little girl outing that is 2k Games' BioShock.

Christoph Hartmann, president of publisher - and Take2 subsidiary, 2K Games says,"Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms."

So, by that we infer that any 'new features' appearing in the PS3 version will also appear in both PC and Xbox 360 games in some form.

According to 2k, BioShock for the PlayStation 3 system will be available in October 2008 and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

No, I think they mean they want them to be incentives for people who already have the game to buy it again in PS3. But who knows?

It is only saying that the game will also appeal to people that have already purchased the Xbox 360 and PC versions. Ya know, new content, new features, come buy this version too.

No. David Armstrong was completely correct and anonymous were completely correct.

They want older buyers to buy it again. PR talk.

False alarm. In fact, this can only hurt 360. People in the future looking at Bioshock as one of the games that they can enjoy (someone who doesn't buy a 360 for one game alone) will now see it enhanced on PS3, where they may enjoy more games.

Dave your right. In the new EGM the developer pretty much says their will be motive for old users to buy the PS3 version.

I see this, as nothing to lose our handbags over. Bioshock is top class game, and the more people that get to experience it, the better it is for all gamers and 2K. PS3 owners I'm sure, will love it just as much as 360 and PC owners.

There's also the fact that PS3 owners, no matter how staunchly in denial of 360, require good games on their console. And after the reviews of Haze (which according to 1up yours podcast is very meh...) that are now coming in, it seems Bioshock couldn't have come to PS3 any sooner. Looks like 360 got a lucky escape from Haze.

More importantly, selling Bioshock on PS3, will also help Take 2 get their feet out of the maw of EA, and I'm all for Take 2 staying a free fishy. If it helps Take 2 in that way, we should all support PS3 Bioshock.

I think I have to agree with the first poster; David Armstrong.
Sounds like they're banking on old players of the game to want to repurchase it for the new content.
