Crysis: Warhead Revealed

Offically website wise that is...

5 Jun 2008

Crytek has revealed Crysis: Warhead, the next release in its Crysis series.

Revealed the game may be, but Crytek isn't giving away much. It has launched a teaser site bearing the image you can see to the right. Clicking through the front page of the site, however, leads you straight to Crytek's official website.

The chap on the teaser image looks like the character Psycho, suggesting that he may be the protagonist of the new release.

Crytek recently said that it would no longer be offering ongoing support for Crysis, apologising and remaining mysterious as to the exact reason why. It looks like all dev hands being pulled onto the Warhead deck is the reason.

What platform(s) the game will appear on is up for grabs. It looks unlikely, however, that the game will be a PC exclusive as its predecessor was. Crytek's CEO, Cevat Yerli, recently said that the developer will no longer producer PC-only games thanks to the level of piracy of Crysis hurting sales. In spite of that, some have speculated that this could be an expansion for the PC version of the original. A better bet with Yerli's comments in mind, however, is that the new game will appear on Xbox 360 and PS3 - either as a console version of the original game or a sequel that also appears on PC.

You can see the teaser website here.

Crytek has just been nominated for Develop Awards in the categories of 'Best New IP' and 'Visual Arts' for its work on Crysis.
