SPOnG is happy to report that written proof has surfaced that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction still exists. Corporate language also assures us that, while it looks like it slipped (a bad thing), it is in fact being used to add to 2009-10's line up.

This comes from Ubisoft's fiscal report for the first quarter of 2008-09. The report carries the statement, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, whose release was previously scheduled for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008-09, will now bolster the line-up for fiscal 2009-10."

"Bolster the line-up of" - that's a nice way of saying 'delayed until', isn't it? Ubisoft's fiscal 2009-10 runs from April next year until March the year after, so it could be a looooong time before we see it at retail.

The game got it's official announcement over a year ago and was scheduled for release in Q4 2007. It was then delayed until this fiscal year, before everything went all too quiet. Like an agent gone rogue, you might say...
