Konami has reported a huge year on year sales boost for its first quarter.
The company's net income (or profit, if you prefer) was ¥5,664 million (£26.7 million) for the period ending June 30th. That's a 46.6% increase on the ¥3,863 million (£18.2 million) over the same period last year.
Net revenues were ¥70,805 million (£333.9 million), up 16.7% on last year.
As you might expect, the global release of Metal Gear Solid 4, which Konami says sold 3 million copies on its day of release, is given a large chunk of credit.
The publisher also tells us, "Furthermore, baseball, soccer and music video games and card games recorded favorable results, which largely contributed to the financial results." Steady sales of Yu-Gi-Oh get a special mention, with Japan pointed to as the lead region for the franchise.
Konami shares closed at $32.61 on the NASDAQ yesterday, a jump of 3.9%.
