UK 80Gb PS3 to Ship Week Early?
David Reeves' second release date changed?
Posted 18 Aug 2008

The 80Gb PlayStation 3 that was due to ship on August 27th in the UK appears to have moved to the 22nd - if you look at Gamestation, GAME and Amazon (but not HMV, which appears to be having a wee problem updating its website).
The 27th date had been announced by SCEE's top-man, David Reeves in July. The change in 80Gb date has not been confirmed by SCEE, however, it comes shortly after the date change for the PlayTV set top box (STB) was changed by nine days. The previous date had already been stated by Reeves.
The new PS3 date comes even more shortly after SCEE's Nick Caplin denied price cuts would be mentioned for the PS3 at this week's Leipzig Game Developers Convention.

Oh, go find your knob Saiyan. An 80GB PS3 is a fine machine, even without PS2 compatibility. All you ever do on this site is make yourself look like a total imbecile.

i just want to no how many people that own a 60 g ps3 or a 360 or even a wii play the games of the last gen i mean yes when the console fist come out you might play but after a wile you dont bother and say you have a 40/80 ps3 and you want to play an old ps2 game you can pick up a second hand ps2 for the same price as a ps3 game so whats the ponit in complaning hay even if you have a 40 gb ps3 and conplaning about the size for hdd space than you can go out and bye a 2.5 250gb hdd from any were and fit it into your ps3 easyer than making a boul of carn flakes and it is cheaper than going to buy a 360 hdd wich has to be official all so most of the 360 games that i would want to play on my 360 do not work or have problems or i have to int to settings and change the resolution down from 1080p to 480p or eals i get big black linds down each side of my screen so have to get out the big green box to make it look right

Its not just the BC but the hype about it originally, lets not forget no memory slots and less USB inputs, a poor looking finish vs the 60gb finish.

But surely, it's all about the games isn't it? The memory card slots and extra USB ports and the case finish (you're really dredging there) don't affect game play unless you want to charge three controllers at once.
I've got a launch 60GB EU PS3 and I've never used the memory card readers and only played one PS2 game on it, which I could have just as easily played on my PS2. I rarely use two USB ports at once, and then only because I have a keyboard hooked up all the time.
