Common sense shocker rocks video games industry
Posted 21 Aug 2008

In a move that has the potential to bring accurate, undeniable and regular sales information to the global video gaming industry, GFK (Europe), Chart-Track (UK), NPD (US) and Enterbrain (Japan) are to cooperate in providing a monthly 'Top Global Markets Report' reports MCV.
The report will track titles, unit sales and share, as well as dollar sales and revenue share.
The four sales tracking organisations tell the world that, "Top Global Markets Report gives the video game industry the ability to equip itself with a monthly report that provides jointly-contributed, title-level video games software sales by country. Data can be viewed as an integrated total market view or as side-by-side country comparisons."
We can all hope that the report will also regularise terms such as 'shipped' and 'sold'.
