According to the BBC back in February, Sony was going to reveal a mystery PS3 game that meant that, "we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion."

That game has now been revealed. Well, according to Daimion Pinnock and SCEA producer, it has. Darren explains that, "Since July there have been rumors about a 'mystery game that SCEA had up its sleeve.'

"Well, it’s time to put all that speculation to rest. I am pleased to announce that we will be adding yet another exciting downloadable PS3 title to the PSN lineup: Savage Moon."

That is, of course, unless it's an entirely new mystery game that the BBC hadn't seen. Apparently, Savage Moon is, "is a frantic, action-packed tower defence game in a gritty sci-fi setting".

It stars "giant deadly creatures" called “Insectocytes" and doesn't remind us one bit of Starship Troopers. You "...will need to have a balanced strategy to fend them all off and keep the mining facilities safe."

Does anybody recall The Y-Project from Westka Interactive? Or what about Lost Planet?

We're sure, however, that Savage Moon will be quite, quite different to other alien insect-based combat games. Already, in fact, we are told that the game is is "addictive and the action is relentless".

Then again, we are told this by Darren.

You are completely wrong!!! There is a link on the Official US blog post that takes you to the rumour in July! Something about UKS accidently listing it - see the story here:

Why would you even think a simple, but no doubt addictive, PSN download would cause that BBC reporter to go weak at the knees? As far as I can see from the blog post this game is Starship Troopers meets PixelJunk Monsters!

Besides how exactly do "rumours since July" and "exclusive press preview in February" link together?!

Totally agree with PS3 owner.
Savage Moon looks interesting but it is (just) a PSN game. I cant see what would make the BBC reporter rave about graphics and gameplay.

Maybe you should change the title of the story to 'Mystery Game NOT revealed.'

;)

There is nothing I can say that has not already been perfectly denoted by the previous two guys.......the tiitle of this article is MISLEADING and should be changed! There absolutely NO WAY this was the game previously rumored about......and PS3 Owner brings up an EXCELLENT question: How the hell DO YOU link the rumor from July and this P(iece)S(h*t)N title? I LOVE the PSN I simply worte that to convey my opinion (so far, I'm sure it won't be bad when I finally check it out!) about Savage Moon........

I wish anonymous posters leapt to my defense whenever I wrote anything.

Not suspicious.

Since when has the beeb been the oracle of anything wrt gaming?
Its coverage of gaming isn't even third rate so they can hardly have the eye on the ball. I don't even think Jo Wiley can be bothered to entertain Minkley anymore, can she? Or maybe I've missed it when I skipped channel when that record got played for the seventh time in the hour

VideoGaiden was on the BBC.... I'd call that FIRST rate gaming coverage, anyday.
