New Japanese PSP Same Price as Xbox 360

The launch price for the PSP 3000 in Japan is to be ¥19,800 (£102 or €125.50) - this is the same RRP as the current model. Given its microphone and 'improved' screen (and despite what appears to be its more limited battery life), it's a little surprising that Sony has eeked out a few more Yen.

It is, however, also the same price as the newly price-slashed Microsoft Xbox 360 Arcade pack in Nippon. Yesterday, Microsoft announced that it will be cutting prices on its consoles in Japan on September 11th. The Arcade will fall from its current ¥27,800 (£143 or €176) to the same ¥19,800 price point as the PSP.

We just thought we'd mention it. Now what we need to know is the pricing for the PSP 3001.

I feel the PSP is overpriced in all regions, but of course as it sells at that price it will stay at that price, in the UK it should be sub £100.00 as the DS should be Sub £80.00 but unless we stop buying em by the bucket load then i guess we wont see nay price cuts there, the 360 on the other hand!

Yeah, bear with on that one - it appears to have ruffled a few feathers. When you get a chance can you email me some higher quality pix. Story tomorrow I reckon.

Cheers

Its actually ruffled a few feathers? Seriously? I dont think its much of a device or anything amazing unfortunantly but just seems like something which can help those that need to move around their wireless adaptor to gain a better signal. However if it actually contained a signal booster that would be very interesting.

I am unable to get you any higher quality pics I only have that phone cam and it aint great.

Microsoft Japan is already actually paying people to take the machines, with little success."We hope more people will be able to enjoy Xbox 360," said marketing marketer Takashi Sensui, "and we can stop enjoying quite so many of them. We also have this fine pile of HD-DVD drives ... Wait! Come back!" http://notnews.today.com/?p=63
