Professor Layton gets Curious on Nintendo DS in Europe

Adventure/puzzle title set for release on the old continent

4 Sept 2008

Nintendo has confirmed that it will release Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the DS in Europe.

The game, which was already released in Japan and North America, will be launched on November 7th.

Nintendo describes the game as “One part adventure, two parts puzzle solving”. It centres around the brilliant Professor Layton and his sidekick, Luke, as they grapple with 130 “ logical and lateral thinking conundrums” and try to solve the mystery of St Mystere.

The game won't stop once you've completed all 130 puzzles, either. Nintendo plans to release additional puzzles every week via Wi-Fi as it has done in other territories.

The game was developed by Level-5, which has also worked on the Dragon Quest series for Square Enix.

The Curious Village is the first in a series that currently consists of three games. It seems like a safe bet to expect the sequels to turn up in Europe, too.

You can find out more about the game over on SPOnG's dedicated page.

I'm tired of this already.

Since its original release, it took an entire year to come out in the US, and another nine months to come to Europe. I could have had 2 children in that amount of time.

Even if they had a single person to translate the entire game, surely it would take less than that amount of time.

But, ultimately, if people don't take their games seriously, and don't take me seriously, just because i'm "foreign", why should I take their games seriously, and why should I take them seriously?
