Activision has announced that it will kick off multi-player betas for Call of Duty: World at War in October. The beta will be for the Xbox 360 and PC.

It has also confirmed that the game will be released in North America on November 11th for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and DS. There's still no word on a European release - the last Activision release schedule just had the game down for 'Winter 2008'. Given that CoD4 got a nearly-simultaneous worldwide launch, however, you can bet World at War will be out around the same time over here as in the US.

It's unclear, unfortunately, as to whether the betas will be open to Europe.

Treyarch, the game's developer, tells us, "Detailed information on precisely how the Xbox 360 tokens will be distributed, as well as information on getting the PC version of this multiplayer BETA will be available right here at the official CallOfDuty.com blog."

A good place to start, however, is registering for the site or (and this one's definitely only for residents of Americashire) pre-ordering a copy of the game from GameStop.

Call of Duty: World at War, takes the series' action back to WWII, homing in on the Pacific theatre. You can find out more about it on SPOnG's dedicated game page.
