Wayne Rooney Addicted to Video Game

that he's paid to promote...

I bloody love me, I do.
8 Sept 2008

If you, like sources close to SPOnG, sat through former Evertonian footballer Wayne Rooney's "performance" against the mighty Andorra this weekend, it will come as little or no surprise that "Roo" apparently spends most of his time playing a video game.

Especially one with his face all over the cover. Except, we suspect he doesn't.

Yes, according to the News of the World, Rooney is apparently addicted to FIFA 08. That would be because he's got his face plastered all over it and is paid to like it? Strangely, the NOWT (surely, NOTW. Ed.) didn't actually manage to get Rooney talking about the game.

Indeed he is. So, this 'story' appears to us to be another fine piece of PR work by those masters over at Electronic Arts - first petrol riots, now Rooney-based narcissism. Frankly, on recent showings for England, it's probably a good idea that the Wayner sticks to the virtual game.

"the England ace is hooked on playing Fifa 08 on his PlayStation!"

What the article doesn't say is whether he is playing on a PlayStation 3 or if he is a multi-millionaire cheapskate using a PS2 to lazy to make the next-gen leap.

Cristiano Ronaldo hasn't passed him his PS3 yet... so Wayne's still waiting.
