World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Dated

Coming real soon...

15 Sept 2008

Blizzard (or Activision Blizzard or ActiBlizz or whatever) has sent forth details of when the next expansion for World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King - will be out.

Here in Europe, alongside denizens of North America, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Russia, we'll get the game on November 13th. That's a Thursday, a day ahead of when we normally get game releases in the UK. It's not unusual for a WoW launch, of course. Last year, The Burning Crusade launched on a wet Monday.

Around the Pacific, gamers will have to wait an extra day or so. Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand will get the expansion of the 14th. Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau will follow on the 18th. The game is planned for launch in China, too, with Blizzard stating that plans will be announced at a later date.

The game will come in standard and collector's editions. Goodies in the collectors edition will include:

"- The Art of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, a 208-page book featuring never-before-seen images from the game.

"- An exclusive in-game pet: Frosty, the baby frost wyrm.

"- A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, the Wrath of the Lich King intro cinematic with director's commentary, and more.

"- The official soundtrack CD, containing 21 epic tracks from the game, along with exclusive bonus tracks.

"- A mouse pad featuring a map of the newly opened continent of Northrend.

"- Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game March of the Legion starter decks, along with two exclusive cards available only in the Collector's Edition."

It won't come cheap, though. While the standard edition will cost $39.99 (€28 or £22), the collector's edition will weigh in at a hefty $69.99 (€49 or £39).
