Nintendo of America has confirmed the date upon which you'll be able to lambaste your friends' ear drums with the joyful sound of console-generated music in the States.

That would be the release date for Wii Music. Monday, October 20th is when the company states the game will be available.

If you're not familiar with it, Wii Music is Nintendo's answer to... well, we want to say Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but frankly it's a rather different beast. Rather than focussing on precision timing, the game focuses on more free-form jamming and boasts some 60-odd instruments to play.

It's also bound to sell like hot cakes at a cold cake-lovers convention because it has the word 'Wii' in the title.

No UK release date had been confirmed at the time of press.
