SEGA has put a date to the up-coming next-gen release of Golden Axe: Beast Riders. Can you smell that? That's the whiff of saddle leather and nostalgia...

The game will be out for both the PS3 and the 360 on October 17th in the UK.

It's about time, too. The game was announced at E3 2006, so its been a while. It's been even longer since we had a fresh playable Golden Axe experience. The last one was waaaaaayyy back in 1996 with Golden Axe: The Duel for the Saturn. Even that was a one-on-one beat 'em up rather than a roaming hack 'n slash in the classic series style, though. The last 'true' Golden Axe game came in 1993 with the third game in the main series on the Mega Drive.
