Posted 2 Oct 2008

UK supermarket chain, Sainsbury's, has started the Xmas console price wars with news that it is cutting the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade to £99.97 as of tomorrow.
MCV reports that the chain is also cutting the Wii to drop from £179.97 to £149.97.
The Xbox 360 60GB drops from £169.97 to £139.97. The offers will run from October 3rd to 17th.
The news also comes as there a industry rumblings concerning that EUK - a major UK supplier to non-specialist outlets such as WH Smith, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Zavvi may be facing challenging times. Large publishers are said to be wary of supplying stock. This could result in shortages to non-core gaming outlets leading into Xmas.

I can imagine the unsavvy parent's will be flocking over to their local Sainsbury's for an Arcade, though. Under £100 is ridiculously cheap for a current gen console. o_o

just got a bit of gosip about the price and why
thay are having to buy pay for them before delivery and they are sitting in the stock rooms as most people go to proper game shops so they are losing a lot of money on them so they are selling with no profit to try to temp people to buy a couple of games and what not
