Asked in an interview whether supply will catch up with demand in 2009, NoA's executive VP of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway, said, "You know, it’s anybody’s guess. None of us know what the ceiling of the demand is."
She did point out, however, that the Wii is out-performing the PS2 at the same point in its lifecycle. "When we look at how we’re doing in an equivalent period to, say, PS2, we’re still outselling that at 22 months."
She also echoed the comments of Reggie Fils-Aime when he claimed that Nintendo will get more Wiis out than it did last Christmas. "We’re going to have a lot of product in the marketplace this holiday - 50% more Wii consoles than last holiday", she said.
She also had a few words on the GameCube ports (complete with Wii control functionality) announced for the Wii in Japan. "We did have no announcements today, but we were not trying to announce the full lineup of 2009’s first half. There will be more news to come", she said.
