Grasshopper Manufacture, home of legendary developer Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) and the studio behind Killer7, has licensed the Unreal Engine 3 for a multi-platform action horror title. The game will be published by Electronic Arts.

Details are thin on the ground, but it has been confirmed that Suda, who heads up Grasshopper, will produce the game. Shinji Mikami, creator of the Resident Evil series, is also on board as director. Whatever this turns out to be, it should prove interesting...

Anyway, time for some mutual, PR-driven back-scratching.

“Unreal Engine 3 is a powerful, easy-to-implement game engine that is helping the creative team at Grasshopper quickly bring our vision to life”, Suda allegedly uttered. “The innovative tools and technology in Unreal Engine 3 help developers create games faster, easier and with less risk.”

“It’s an honor to work with Mikami-san and Suda-san on their next project”, said Jay Wilbur, VP at Epic Games. “Grasshopper Manufacture is one of the most daring and innovative studios in the world, and we can’t wait to see what they’re able to do with Unreal Engine 3."

So there you have it. Let the speculation begin...
