TGS: Tekken 6 - There Goes Another PlayStation Exclusive

Namco Bandai beat 'em up heading to Xbox 360

Posted by Staff
Namco Bandai has officially announced the console version of Tekken 6, revealing that it will break with the series' long tradition of PlayStation exclusivity to make an appearance on the Xbox 360.

The game got a mention during Microsoft's keynote by John Schappert (corporate VP of LIVE, software and services for Xbox) and has now had a full announcement from the publisher itself.

The title, which has already turned up in arcades, is slated for an Autumn 2009 release.

It's the latest in an ever-growing list of franchises that were once associated with Sony's PlayStation brand but will now also appear on the 360. As well as the likes of Grand Theft Auto heading over for simultaneous launch on Microsoft's machine we've more recently seen Final Fantasy XIII confirmed for the 360.

Better late than never...Took your time putting this huge announcement up hey Spong? Lol.

Anyhow its in the interest of developers and publishers alike to go mulitplatform. Personally since Microsoft has all the money they could quite easily take FF13 and Tekken 6 as 360 only games but thats up to the developer if they want to do that I guess.

all good hay the 360 dose need more fighting games but and this is a big but the 360 controller is not designed for them so they do not work as well as the ps3 but saying that the ps3 is still not brilliant controller for it we need a sega saturn style controller and i would be in heaven but until then i think i stick to my hori ex2 for 360 and my xarcade for my ps3

I'm gonna throw my hat into the "don't care" ring too.

A game that only had the excuse of laziness for not being multi-platform in the first place has now gone multi-platform for financial reasons. Big shock.

This is just another piece of evidence for the death of third party exclusives. He said, shamelessly plugging his old article. :-)

Was kinda' expecting it TBH. Though I am still looking forward to it, its just ANOTHER PS3 exclusive that's gone to the 360. Either Sony is doing FA to keep them exclusive, or the devs just don't want to make exclusive games. Either way, I don't really care.

So which console will you buy it for? PS3 or Xbox?

i wont buy it, that is unless it gets super review scores and its a must buy, then i dont know, maybe PS3 as the xbox controller is pants for fighting games, but then again acheivements? trophys are rubiish. but then again im `trying` to build a ps3 collection, not sure to be honest.

No, I was asking phil cort as it says in the "Replying to phil cort" bit of the header as Phil buys a lot of games, sometime he'll buy a game for more than just the one console, or at least think about it. Anybody else with both machines could also jump in but, as your footer says "Proud owner of a 60Gb PlayStation 3" and not "Proud owner of a 60Gb PlayStation 3 & XBOX360" or even "Proud owner of a 60Gb PlayStation 3 & a slightly less proud owner of an XBOX360" I could guess your answer.

For me the PS3 was the better fighting controller with the faster feeling face buttons but online and on price (once it's been out for a bit) I'd go for Xbox.

i am not sore which console i will be buying it for as on one hand tekken has always been a playstaion game and so should stick to it but then you have the achievement points on the 360 which is always a good thing
then you got to look at the controller that you going to us as like i said be for i have a xracde stick which for fighting games nothing bets it but i all so have a hori stick for 360 not as good as xarcade but is still good i think that this is the fist game that is going to be hard to decide but it is more likely it being ps3 as it was and still is 1 of the games iv been wanting sine they fist announced the ps3
