Because K-Mart can

It looks like the street date for Lionhead Studios' Fable II has been broken in Australia - a full week before release.

A forum poster over on NeoGAF, Nemesis556, reports, "So I was at my local K-Mart and noticed they were selling the game, now it's due out next Thursday so something was definitely up."

And the highly articulate response given when Nemesis556 asked K-Mart why? Apparently it was along the lines of, "Err Yeah they came in today".

Of course, he could be telling fibs. But... why would you bother?

If the street date has indeed been broken by K-Mart, other Australian retailers, not wanting to lose sales, may well follow suit.

For more on Fable II, see SPOnG's dedicated game page.
