A Plague on World of Warcraft
As Spidey-man looks interested
Posted 23 Oct 2008

As soon as Spider-Man movie director, Sam Raimi, starts saying what a great movie World of Warcraft would make, "if you had the right writers and directors", a plague descends on the game.
Yup, according to Worldofwarnet, "Suspicious looking crates have appeared in Booty Bay, and if you open one, you are infected with the plague! If you don't find a cure within 10 minutes, you become a zombie with some new spells of your own, and can attack anyone or any NPC. In doing so, you pass along the disease - even to an NPC."
You are also warned to "Watch out for infected Pumpkins in Elwynn Forest!"
Let's hope the plague doesn't get out of hand, as happened when winged serpent, Hakkar, was introduced in September 2005. That introduced a plague that turned characters rogue. On the upside, however, it also enabled Eric Lofgren, of Rutgers University to use it in his real world disease tracking research. So, Warcraft is more than simply cos-play without having to see real people, which is nice.
