Electronic Arts is working with a company called Borne Games on a project that we find, frankly, astonishing. Yes, it's an free online Flash-based game that is neither rubbish or deliberately controversial or rubbish and deliberately controversial.

It is, in fact, Mirror's Edge 2D. It's still in beta for the moment, but it's worth a look purely to see what can be done with the media.

According to game creator, Brad Borne, "Now, I can’t stress this enough. This is only a one level beta, designed to iron out a few bugs before release, and give you guys a chance to leave some feedback on the raw gameplay. There’s much more to the (also free) full game than just this level."

Read our review of the full, 3D, boxed version here.

And see the game, here.
