The Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) informs us that video game pirate, Steven Raymond Adams and his partner in life and crime, Julie Frendo, have been handed down sentences for flogging illegal copies of unnamed games. ELSPA has also handed out a link to a piece in the ever-reliable The Sun showing how the pair used their ill-gotten games to fund a gastric band operation for him an a breast enlargement for her.

According to prosecuting counsel Mr Barry Berlin, "A conservative estimate of the loss to the industry is £924,000 with almost 30,000 infringing objects and at least £200,000 profit for this man."

The jail terms come following Adams' August 29th guilty plea to 44 counts relating to the Trade Marks Act 1994. On November 21st at Wolverhampton Crown Court Adams copped three years inside. "Mum of two" Frendo got a 12-month sentence, suspended for 18 months.

Not only this but Adams will also have to face up to the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), which will seek to recover the £180,000 he apparently made from "the games, film and music industries".
