Woolworths Shutdown Hits Zavvi - UPDATED

Zavvi has issued a statement to MCV regarding this issue, it reads as follows:

‘In light of the recent news that the Woolworth's Group and its CD, DVD & Games distribution arm Entertainment UK have gone into administration, zavvi (in the short term) is dealing direct with relevant suppliers to ensure stock of new release titles such as Take That’s 'The Circus' and DVDs such as Hancock and Dark Knight are available to its customers in its 125 UK & Irish stores.’


If you've seen a deal on Zavvi's website that tickled your fancy recently and didn't pounce on it, you're out of luck. Thanks to Woolworths and its distribution company EUK going into administration, Zavvi is currently not making sales of games, music and DVDs through its website.

A message on Zavvi's website further advises that any order placed in the last few days via the website that cannot be guaranteed will be cancelled, with refunds provided as necessary.

The website advises that it is still possible to shop at Zavvi's high street outlets. That said, it was reported yesterday that Zavvi and WHSmiths, another EUK-supplied retailer, were still waiting on their copies of Sony's Resistance 2 - an issue that may have been a factor in the game's average Charts performance.

Similarly, the retailer has been left without copies of Take That and Britney Spears' new albums - sure to be two of the year's biggest music releases, depressing as that is. According to Zavvi, it will have copies of the albums today.
