Reuters reports that Square has announced not only a release date for Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky on the DS but also that X will come to Wii.

In the first case, "Square Enix plans to launch Dragon Quest IX on March 28 in Japan for 5,980 yen (£42 or 48 euro) for the DS handheld gear, but officials declined to disclose an overseas launch date or price."

In the second case, well, Dragon Quest X is in development for Wii. No release date, no territories, no game details as yet. If it's anything like Protectors of the Starry Sky, we'll expect a release in about 2012 to 15.
