How do we know? There's a photo of a Gamestop sign saying so. A picture of it has popped up courtesy of an anonymous employee of the retailer. He/she noted that their store (yes, 'store', we're talking American here) sells around one original Xbox a month. You can see why accepting them isn't good business any more.
Basically, just in case you were in any doubt, this shows that the poor old Xbox is for all intents and purposes dead. While that might seem like a given thanks to (pretty much†) no games having been released for the machine in a couple of years, lack of software didn't stop Sony from manufacturing PSOnes right through to 2006.
Of course, thanks to that signage Gamestop will now be flooded by punters looking to get shot of their original Xbox clutter. Shame, that - all those customers wandering through the doors. Expect all that obsolete hardware and software to pop up in China soon...
It was grand, Xbox. Toodlepip!
†Bizarrely, there has been anomalies such as Madden NFL 09.
