Exclusive: Team 17 Confirms Worms for PlayStation Network

More content than original XBLA

Worms: not the PSN version.
Worms: not the PSN version.
Following a report that German USK rating board has revealed that Team17's Worms could be appearing on the PlayStation network, SPOnG can exclusively reveal that this is indeed the case.

Speaking to Team17 founder and Studio Director, Martyn Brown, this morning we were told:

"Yes, we can confirm that Worms is coming to PSN soon, it's been fully optimised for the platform (including 1080p) and contains a lot more content than the original XBLA launch simply because there was no size limitation."

The timeframe for the arrival of the gaming classic - which has been hugely successful on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade since its launch there two years ago - is thought to be sooner rather than later. We'd expect to be able to download it before the end of March.

Meanwhile the Yorkshire-based independent is also full-steam ahead on bringing the much-loved Amiga title, Alien Breed to console. More on that soon.

Here's a thought - who cares? Not me. I loved Worms when I was a kid on my Amiga, loved it when it came out on Live Arcade a whoooooollllleeee omg2yrsago (!), and I'll love it again when it pops onto the PSN.

Anyone who's really bothered are mere console fanboys out to point-score. It's Worms, for God's sake.

I'm a little disappointed that it's still nowhere near as good control-wise as the DS version that came out only slightly after Worms XBLA. Still, I'm glad I have it.
