MMOs come with character customisation options. It's no secret. When it comes to Star Trek Online, however, developer Cryptic Studios plans to enable you to create an entire race. Below is a video that was shown off at New York Comic Con over the weekend, displaying some of the possibilities the Alien Creator throws out.

Cryptic tells us that "There are literally thousands of combinations available in the alien creator, which will offer an unprecedented level of customization options." So there you go. We don't think that, like Spore's Creature Creator - which did an enormous amount to push the game - the Alien Creator will be coming as a standalone ap.

On the business front, Atari recently announced the addition of Cryptic Studios to its stable of talent.
