Geek Lawyers Shocked by PS3's Messaging Ability
ABC News in the United States is quoting the Eric Devlin, the Harris County, Texas, prosecutor in a story entitled: 'Playstation Sex Crimes: Criminal Used Game to Get Girl's Nude Pictures'. The strap line to the story is: 'PlayStation Has Full Web Browser; Computer Unnecessary'.

Devlin states, "People don't realize how the PlayStation is like a regular computer", fair enough. You've got to imagine that high-powered lawyers might not know that the PS3 has a full browser. But then he decides to admit,"We didn't know how much you can do, and we're geeks".

The story relates to sicko Anthony Scott Oshea who groomed an 11-year-old Houston girl into sending him nude pictures of herself "from her PlayStation to his" and then sharing the pictures with people in five other states.

Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, points out, "Can you think of an easier setting than playing games online? These are games. These are children's games."

So, the PS3 is now used as a transmitter of evil by 'geek lawyers'...

WTF!

I was hoping that Sony releases something more useful for communicating with multi technologies such as computers and PS3, just like the MSN in Xbox 360.

Just another anti-PS3 story. Amazing how they focus on the console as opposed to the man using it to break the law, isn't it?

If someone were to run an 11-year-old over with a Hummer, you wouldn't hear much about the exact model......

so, an 11 year old willingly sends nude photos of herself and it's Sonys fault?

Even I'd back Sony here.

Might as well blame gun manufacturers for all those global shootings last week too.

People will always do stupid stuff, I'm sure that PS3 has parental locks, so Sony should be covered from liability.

Investors at gun manufacturers, must have seen their share prices jump, with video games being such a scape goat for all of youths ills. It seems society doesn't value truth anymore, just the weak sensation of rumour.

this is not the consoles fault or even the little girls fault. its the parents, 11 years old and online by herself? where did she meet this guy was it even on an appropriate game for her? still just the parents fault as much as it is the perverts fault.

So basically the problem is some dude going on a web browser (regardless of platform) and luring kids to his sickening man candy?

Hey, maybe someone should be looking at Personal Computers every once in a while, I think they has those confounded 'browser' thingy-ma-gadgets.

Oh wait, I forgot. "Ban This Sick Filth", right? Silly me.
