Microsoft has now sold a million Xbox 360s in Japan! The PS3 has sold... more.

That's according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, which monitors Japanese games industry stats. The exact figure, according to the company's calculations, is 1,001,191 Xbox 360s sold between it launching in Japan on December 10th, 2005 and March 29th, 2009.

1 million sounds like a big, impressive number. Unfortunately it's been somewhat overshadowed. As of March 29th, 3,009,395 PS3s have been sold in Japan, with the console having gone on sale nearly a year later on November 11th, 2006.

No mention was given to the Wii's (higher) sales figure.

Of course, Enterbrain isn't the only company that tracks Japanese games hardware sales. Media Create might have something different to say when it releases its figures later in the week...
