Fallout 3: Broken Steel PC - Fixed?
Still no official word on fix from Bethesda
Posted 6 May 2009

The problems with Bethesda's Fallout 3: Broken Steel DLC may have been fixed... unless you can tell us anything to the contrary in the forum that is...
According to lvl2gamer, "The English version is now out and there have been many confirmations that is works properly." There hasn't, however, been any confirmation that this is the case from either Bethesda or Microsoft at this point, however.
Even if there hasn't been a fix for the problem that either of the companies wants to put its name to, however, there's a ray of hope to be shone on your DLC woes. Over on the Bethesda forums, poster Greywulf presents the following solution:
"Log into GfWL - go to My Media, where you should see the stalled out installation and cryptography message.
"At this point, I clicked 'cancel' for BS. BS disapperaed (sic) from the list, but when I went into 'all activity' (or something to that effect), I was presented with the option to download BS.
"I clicked the download arrow and waited. For whatever reason, after it downloaded, it installed."
Feedback on the thread indicates that others have used this solution and had a similarly positive response.
The error cropped up yesterday, with Bethesda having blamed it on Games for Windows DRM.

I just checked, too. My U.S. account doesn't have the download again either, not even with clicking cancel.

After clicking cancel click "display: entire history". It's there. There's an arrow you can click on to download it again.

For those who have already purchased the broken steel add-on for FO3 (and it WAS available in the early hours of the release date in US PACIFIC time) -- all you must do is download the add on, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\XLive\DLC (where USERNAME is your accounts username), find the folder with the broken steel download and copy it manually to the data folder in the fallout 3 folder, enable broken steel in the data files box on the auto play screen and start playing the game!

@Leif_Starkey
Even though it took me 3 hours to download I can confirm the UK version is working.
That said it is buggy as hell 1 crash in game, 1 crash trying to exit to main menu, which forced me to restart my comp.
Positive being that the new enemies (not to spoil it too much) are awesome and very challenging IMO.
