Wedbush Morgan analyst, Michael Pachter, has been opining again. This time about the upcoming Wii Motion Plus.

"I expect MotionPlus to be a sneaky success (like Wii Fit), and ultimately attach to at least one third of the [Wii's] installed base", he tells Edge... which listens intently we assume.

Now, we can't tell if the bracketed comment is inserted by Edge or said by Pachter. Either way, the idea that Wii Fit was a 'sneaky hit' had us referring to what we like to call 'historical fact'.

We discovered:

"Wii Fit Selling at 90 Copies Per Minute - Woolworths claims that Wii Fit was selling at a rate of 90 copies per minute on Friday when it launched."

Mmmm sneaky.

Don't trust a fail like Woolies? "Wii Fit has successfully and thoroughly staked its claim at the top of the Charts. The 'game' is, according to Chart-Track, the "6th fastest selling UK debut ever", having been beaten only by products in the GTA, Halo and Gran Turismo series."

Utterly stealthy!

Oh, Pachter's insight also extends to... "I think around 20 percent of Wii owners in the US and Europe will have bought Wii Sports Resort, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 or EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis, so that's around eight million".

Let's have a quick look at those install figures from the latest Ninty figures:

The Americas life-to-date: 23.5 million.
Other (excludes Japan): 18.89m.

So, 42million - 20% of which is 8.5million, which is close to Mr Pachter's figures for the United States and Europe. Figures, schmigers eh.

Meanwhile - watch this:
