Atari looks to become a US-only brand, leaving Namco Bandai to take up the brand's European titles when it buys out current parent company, Infogrames next month.

Thus the apparent confusion over Sony getting the publishing rights in Europe to Ghostbusters - which remains with Atari in the States - becomes clear.

Adding flesh to the bones, MCV states, "Atari Europe’s sales and marketing staff will be safely transferred to newly-formed business Distribution Partners – which will handle all Namco Bandai product in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand."

Distribution Partners may also be called Namco Bandai Partners.

It's understood that Atari's US operation will continue under that name - being lead by Infogrames' David Gardner who joined the company in 2008.

Working on the history of the brand, we'll expect to see Atari back as a European brand in about 2011 though.
