Kojima Productions Predicts a Stormy E3

More details to pore over

Posted by Staff
The Kojima Productions' teaser website has been updated once again, pointing at E3(!) and, yes, having stormy, moody, nay - moostormy weather.

Yes, as well as that '5' (or 'S') there's now the letter 'E' and the number '3' periodically popping up. Curiously, there's also a lower case 'e' turning up.

Things have also got decidedly more stormy on the site, with water falling out of the sky and plentiful lightening. The lightening and accompanying thunder, of course, feeds into speculation that the game involved is Metal Gear Solid '5' and will feature Raiden of MGS2, whose name means thunder and lightening.

There's also a new countdown, hovering around 112 hours at the time of publication. This ties in neatly with the findings of NeoGAF forum poster Nirolak, who poked around the page source code and discovered the setup of the timers - a set-up that leads to June 1st, which also happens to be the day of Microsoft's E3 press conference.

You can still find the teaser website here.

I've not done as much digging as Nirolak has but the standard page source has the following:

<meta name="keywords" content="Hideo Kojima, MGS,METAL GEAR, NEXT, game, konami, kojima game, KJP, Kojima Production ">

which unless they are just trying to generate traffic to the site, looks like it'll be a Metal Gear announcement.

Also, if you want to create your own timer change the last parameter of this:
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/frame.swf?lmt01=20090518100000&lmt02=20090522100000&lmt03=20090526223000

e.g.
lmt03=yyyymmddhhmmss
hh = UK (24 hour) time + 8

So the above example link has a timer that will expire at 2:30pm UK time, unless I know but thought someone might find a use for it!
