Warner Bros has confirmed the disc-based release of Watchmen: The End is Nigh, with the PS3 version set for a movie/game hybrid release.

The PS3 release will comprise a two-disc set, including Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 along with the movie and (in Warner's words) "exclusive artwork in a premium package."

Both games will also be released together for the Xbox 360, though no mention has been made of a package that includes the movie for Microsoft's system.

Rounding all that out, the second episode of the game will also be released over the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live around the same time.

That lot will all be out in July - no hard date has been given, though the DVD and Blu-ray release of just the movie is listed as July 21st in the US on Amazon. Yes, we said 'US' - the fancy-pants disc release has only been confirmed for North America as yet. We're waiting on confirmation of a European release.

News of a disc-based release for the previously download-only game(s) turned up yesterday thanks to a bit of chat from Deadline director Søren Lund. He neglected to mention, however, that the PS3 version would be packaged with the film.
