In a recent interview at the Terminator premiere, Lin said, "Really excited - it's a great origin story that we're going to tell. A very character-oriented I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies."
OK, so an origin story seemed likely, given that we're looking at a reboot. The "more realistic" part sounds intriguing, though. Of course, currently even Indiana Jones is more realistic than Lara's film escapades, so adding to the realism doesn't demand that much.
For SPOnG's take on who might make a good new Lara, head this way.

i think it is a terrible idea to "reeboot" the franchise there was nothing wrong with it! and if angelina jolie isn't in it and it is a rubbish actress who otheres don't like*cough cough*megan fox... then old tomb raider fans will simply just walk away....

I agree, I enjoyed the films, realism has nothing to do with it, the games aren't realist so why should the films be I say.
