Intriguingly, 2K creative director and BioShock writer is listed as the author of the book. It may be that the novel is based on his ideas rather than directly penned by him, but still - is that canonical enough for you?
This comes, rather unceremoniously, from a catalogue listing spotted by Gamasutra. Tor (which is an imprint of Macmillan) also has a new trilogy of Halo novels coming up and has published notable sci-fi and fantasy authors such as Orson Scott Card and Terry Goodkind.
