Trophies would make sense on the PSP, right? They would extend the PS3/PSP inter-connectedness provided by your PlayStation Network account and help distance the trophy system from Xbox 360 Achievements. It sounds like a great idea. It's not happening, though.

"You're not going to see Trophies on the PSP", Eric Lempel, director of PlayStation Network, bluntly told Joystiq.

This is not, however, because Sony hates you. Lempel said that there are a number of reasons for not bringing the Trophy system to the PSP, with "keeping it secure" apparently being top of the pile. As you may well know, the PSP's been hacked more times than your incontinent granny's been to the toilet. Hell, she probably hacked it while she was sat in there. Lempel noted that "if people can artificially inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies" then it "kills the whole [Trophy] system". The solution, then, is "keeping it secure, keeping it fair".

So - no Trophies on PSP.
