The White Stripes' (The Dead Weather and more) Jack White, and Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page have taken a pop at Guitar Hero and its ilk. Music games, apparently, make them feel bad.

"It's depressing to have a label come and tell you that ['Guitar Hero'] is how kids are learning about music and experiencing music", White said at a press conference for It Might Get Loud, an upcoming film that focuses on the two musicians . He added that he doesn't want to dictate "which format people should get their music in…if you have to be in a video game to get in front of them, that's a little sad."

No explanation as to why that's sad was given.

Page (startlingly!) said that he doesn't reckon you can learn that much about playing an instrument from Guitar Hero or Rock Band. "You think of the drum part that John Bonham did on Led Zeppelin's first track on the first album, Good Times Bad Times", he said. "How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?" No other drummer, Jim.

For what it's worth, Led Zeppelin is notoriously unwilling to license its music.

SPOnG, for its part, would hate to suggest that White and Page are old and just don't get it.
