Splinter Cell Conviction: 12 Hours for 'Normal' Gamers
Hardcore gamers can have it get realistic on their ass
Posted 2 Jul 2009

Do you think of yourself as normal? If so - firstly: you're probably a complete freak. Secondly: you'll probably be finishing Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Conviction in 12 hours.
Speaking to OXM, the game's creative director, Maxime Beland, said, "I want people to play my games and finish them. We're going to ship with difficulty levels, at least a normal mode and realistic mode - like we did on Rainbow Six Vegas. And realistic is going to be really fucking hard - you're going to need stealth, two bullets is going to kill you, the enemies are going to be super-lethal.
"And then we're going to have the normal mode for normal gamers, that are going to spend 12 hours playing our game and not 30 because they're dying all the time."
Which mode will you be playing in?

So "playable", sorry, "normal" mode will be about 6 hours of play for seasoned FPS gamers normal enough to not be arsed with "tedious", sorry (again), "realistic" mode

feh. a game like Splinter Cell...if you can't stand a bit of tedium, you're playing the wrong game...'sides, its not really an FPS now is it? "normal" mode is for the Lowest Common Denominator, emphasis on Common and I could care less how long it takes them. They'll be blazing through it as if it was a shooter, and good riddance to them once they're through missing the point of the game, they can go back to whichever iteration of Call of Duty they fancy...
