If you peer into your crystal ball and have a look at the future of World of Warcraft, you might see a tiny disruption in its otherwise smooth course. That's your wallet catching wind of the fact that micro transactions could come to World of Warcraft.
Speaking to Videogamer.com Tom Chilton, director of WoW, said, "I certainly think it's possible that we could do some kind of micro-transaction stuff." It's not a very concrete statement, but coming from the mouth of one of Blizzard's main men it's certainly something to think on.
Chilton went on to muse on the possibility of micro-transactions driving WoW into free-to-play territory. "Whether or not World of Warcraft ever goes the direction of, I guess like Anarchy Online has gone the direction of going free-to-play with micro-transactions. Whether we ever shift to a free-to-play model is really too hard to say at this point. Anything I say now could easily five years from now end up seeming like, oh my gosh, that was an incredibly dumb thing to say, how naive!" he said.
Elsewhere in the brave world of WoW, you can now access Twitter without ever leaving your game.
What would have to be on offer in WoW for you to pay for it?

Nothing supports a game like a subscription. I've played free-to-play games before and I play WoW and the reason WoW is better is because they recieve more money through the subscriptions with which to use to advance and support the game. I don't think relying solely on micro transactions is the way to go at all.
Subscriptions is really the way of Bllizzard to enhance and support the game. But free-to-play WoW is really a great idea also. Imagine you didn't pay any amount for your account. And it's your own choice if you want to gear up your character and earn more wow gold with the use of micro-transactions.
