UPDATE: Killzone 2 (NOT) Biggest Non-Casual Game of 2009
Nintendo owns the rest of the first half of '09
Posted 6 Jul 2009

Chart-Track and ELSPA have let loose figures for games sales in the UK for the first half of 2009. Nintendo effectively owns the top half the charts with the kinds of games that make hardcore gamers scream their heads off in horror. They are also the kinds of games that spread the word that video gaming is not the sole preserve of people likely to rush around their local College of Post Office Skills armed with high-powered weaponry... yes, casual or family games from Nintendo for the Wii.
The top four positions in the sales charts all belong to Nintendo... but what comes in as the first non-Nintendo game? Killzone 2 on the PS3, that's what... somehow, we're not sure how.
1 - Wii Fit - Nintendo
2 - Wii Play - Nintendo
3 - Mario Kart Wii - Nintendo
4 - Professor Layton And The Curious Village - Nintendo
5 - Killzone 2 - Sony
6 - Resident Evil 5 - Capcom
7 - Dr Kawashima's Brain Training - Nintendo
8 - The Sims 3 - EA
9 - Call Of Duty: World At War - Activision
10 - Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games - Sega

If they're not casual, what exactly is a casual game? The Bejeweled/Peggle/Zuma crowd?

They are casula, that's what the story says. The first on the list that's not casual is KZ2!

Gah! Iamatit. My parser read it as the whole chart being for non-casual games.
I think the seed for the misinterpretation is Professor Layton And The Curious Village - wouldn't call any adventure a "casual game". Just cause it's got cute gfx and isn't Guild of Thieves doesn't make it casual.
