As of today, DICE's download-only Battlefield 1943 is available for Xbox LIVE Marketplace at 1,200 MS points. This is roughly a tenner.

It will be available tomorrow for the PlayStation Network for an actual £9.99.

If you've got no idea whether you want to experience a battlefield in 1943, you can also download the demo of the multi-player WWII FPS from both online outlets.

Here's the detail:
- 24-players in battle over four maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea (the demo features Wake Island).

- You either play the US Marines or Imperial Japanese Navy.

- The Coral Sea map will be unlocked as part of a worldwide community challenge, where players will work together to reach 43M kills on both Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. The official countdown begins on July 10, 2009 at 19:43 GMT.

Tora! Tora! and indeed Tora! as they say.
